GACC | Rejected Imported Foods & Cosmetics in February 2022

 
On March 17, the General Administration of Customs released information on food that was not allowed to enter China in February 2022. In February 2022, 127 batches of food that were not allowed to enter China that found to be unqualified in safety and hygiene items at ports of entry.

According to the statistics, those not allowed entry food are from Argentina, Australia, Iceland, Russia, Ecuador, France, Philippine, South Korea, Canada, Malaysia, Mauritania, Burma, Mexico, Norway, Portugal, Japan, Thailand, Spain, Senegal, Slovenia, New Zealand, Italy, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, China (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan ). Among them, Japan had largest quantity of rejected foods that of 17 batches.

Statistics found that the reasons of unqualified food not allowed entry have problems such of using food additives, nutrition fortifier, microbial pollution, unqualified packaging labels, Goods/Certificates discrepancy, failure to provide the certificate or qualification materials, no inspection and quarantine access, non-compliant sensory inspection, animal disease, parasites, cadmium exceeds limit. Among them, the goods certificate is not in the first place, there are 30 batches.

In addition, some food products were found moldy, beyond the shelf life, peroxide value exceeded the standard, moisture and acid value exceeded the standard, and pollution and corruption condition existed.

These ports related to non-permitted food include Beijing, Dalian, Fuzhou, Gongbei, Guangzhou, Whampoa, Jinan, Nanning, Ningbo, Qingdao, Xiamen, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Shenyang, Tianjin, Wuhan and Zhanjiang. Among them, Qingdao, Guangzhou and Tianjin are the top three ports.

It is reported that these non-permitted food has been returned or destroyed at the port in accordance with the law.
